Solving Problems
An important part of learning mathematics is tackling problems, including those you meet in the course materials, the assessment questions and those in your own investigations. You may find some of these problems fairly straightforward (for example when a topic is first introduced) and others rather more challenging, especially if they require you to pull together several different ideas. It is a good idea to have some strategies to cope with these problems!
What strategies do you use when you are tackling a problem?
Think about these for a few minutes and jot down any that you use.
To help you think about these strategies we have devised an activity on problem solving.
